GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Manager – Youth Career Development Services, the Post-Secondary Success Coordinator supports career development of youth and young adults and assists them with successfully transitioning into post-secondary education and persisting in their post-secondary education programs by facilitating Goodwill curriculum and developing and connecting students with scholarships, opportunities and resources. This role serves as a champion and model of GID’s values – “FACE IT” which incorporates fun, accountability, collaboration, empowerment, innovation, and transparency in all that we do.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates, develops, and executes post-secondary retention program at multiple university, college, and apprenticeship sites throughout Colorado.
  • Coordinates, develops, and executes post-secondary retention curriculum through group seminars, workshops, and classroom presentations. Understands best practices in retention of first-generation students, students of color, and students from low-income families/communities. Implements focused programming that incorporates these best practices.
  • Maintains a caseload of approximately 100 college freshman currently enrolled in universities, colleges, and other post-secondary institutions. Maintains records and case notes of each student.
  • Maintains an additional caseload of 100+ undergraduate college students enrolled in universities, colleges, and other post-secondary institutions. Maintains records and case notes of each student.
  • Assists students through individualized mentoring and coaching, small group facilitation, tracking and follow up.
  • Creates and maintains an on-line resource for undergraduate college students to provide additional support.
  • Acts as a liaison between Goodwill’s Youth Services Programs, universities, college and other post-secondary institutions to arrange partnerships, collaboration, and presentations.
  • Oversees and assists with the coordination of summer college transitions programs, including college success camps and Summer Bridge mentoring program.
  • Coordinates and oversees the administration of Goodwill’s scholarship programs, including standardization, scholarship disbursement and student compliance.
  • Maintains a streamline scholarship process; redesigned application, selection of students, and scholarship compliance.
  • Principal contact for all scholarship questions concerns within Youth Services programs.
  • Acts as a scholarship liaison to arrange and maintain partnerships, collaboration, and donations.
  • Maintains caseload of various scholarship students: Daniels Fund, Collegeinvest, Summer Bridge, and others as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with research and development of funding sources for post-secondary retention programming and scholarships.
  • Attends higher education coalition meetings to keep Goodwill’s Youth Services Programs informed on current education policy. Attends conferences for ongoing professional development. Report findings to Youth Career Development staff.
  • Trains and supports Goodwill Facilitators in the classroom with post-secondary preparation and post-secondary retention best practices.
  • Tracks student attendance, problems, successes and reports in compliance with Goodwill criteria.
  • Surveys students. Evaluates results to provide data for program outcomes and satisfaction of program.
  • Acts as a liaison between Goodwill’s Youth Career Development Programs and community agencies, clubs, businesses, corporations, etc.
  • Develops/Maintains Corporate Partnerships in order to increase professional internships for students currently attending post-secondary institutions.
  • Keeps Youth Services Manager informed regarding the post-secondary program. Provides reports to Youth Career Development Manager and Program Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) team to provide the necessary data to evaluate and improve the program.
  • Performs job duties in accordance with Goodwill's ethics and values. Positively promotes the organization, mission, and program of services internally and/or externally.   • Safeguards all Goodwill property including donated goods. Reports any incidents of theft or unauthorized possession/removal of Goodwill property.
  • Follows all Goodwill policies and procedures. Follows and enforces safety rules and regulations. Acts safely at all times.
  • Supports the best elements of our corporate culture while making culture change. Open to and supportive of new ideas and process improvement of systems and procedures.
  • Supports Goodwill sponsored summer programming duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • Works flexible schedules, overtime, weekends, evenings and holidays if required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Bachelor’s degree (BA) preferred.

Must have the functional and technical skills to perform the duties and responsibilities.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUNDS, PROPERTY and EQUIPMENT

Employee is responsible for any technology or Goodwill property used in the normal course of employment will be under the safekeeping and the responsibility of the employee to maintain in good working order.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the school community. Ability to write speeches and program promotional materials for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to write clearly and informatively and presents numerical data effectively. Able to read and interpret written information. Ability to act as a spokesperson for Goodwill programs at various school and community events.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts applicable to job responsibilities.

CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Word word processing software, MS Excel spreadsheet software and MS Outlook contact management systems. Employee should have an understanding of CiviCore and case management software. Understanding of Infinite Campus and Naviance is preferred.

Employee must be able to utilize audio/visual equipment and various forms of technology resources to facilitate curriculum in the classroom environment.

CERTIFICATIONS and LICENSES

Current Colorado substitute teacher authorization is required. A Secondary Education credential issued from the Colorado Department of Education is preferred.

Ability to pass a criminal background search and E-verify. Must have a clear Colorado driver’s license to drive on Goodwill business.

Employee will spend a majority of time working in a school and/or classroom environment. However, employee will

travel to corporate headquarters and Goodwill event locations where environmental conditions may vary.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel between offices is approximately 15%.
